Will historians look back on this era as one of prosperity, equality, freedom and happiness? Or will they instead define the early twenty-first century as an age of complacency: a time when people were unhappy and unfulfilled; when they witnessed growing crisis but failed to respond, feeling there to be no viable alternatives?I am sure that people of most every age feel that their time is worst and experience the turmoil of change. Existential threats that faced other generations: plague, invasion, persecution, war, nuclear war all seem just a real as today's treats of climate change, fascism, and the Kardasians.
